NYFW UPDATES

Alexander Wang... To be totally honest I am not feeling his Spring 2010 collection. I love sports and I love A.W. but the two together? What I like about Wangs collections are the simple black dresses that are cut sooo perfectly they hang like art on my body. Those will always be a staple for me and of course he's included them but he is also showing sporty Leather lace up shorts with cropped sweatshirts, Rugby stripes and knee high socks. Not my bag but cool none the less.

Adam Lippes... YOU GOT IT SOOO RIGHT. Light flowy sexy girly.. just what I'm looking for. Sheer white tanks paired with white ostrich feathered pencil skirts. Textured fabrics on the bottom and simplicity on the top.. J'adore.

Jason Wu.. Last but not least.. in fact my ultimate favourite.
OSTRICH AGAIN.. I LOVE IT.. Beautiful structured tweeds and impeccable detailing.. see all the magic here http://www.fashionweekdaily.com/runway/fullstory.sps?inewsid=6639538

I want: A Summer to Fall transitional bag and sweater.

This Crumpet "Sloppy Joe" Cashmere sweater is the perfect Summer to Fall Sweater. Wear it when the weather turns chilly at night in August and wear it when the days bite in September with a great Khaki Trench. Pair the look with this delicious Chloe Paraty handbag and you've got a killer seasonal transition outfit.

I want: an anti-veg reusable bag

ANYA HINDMARCH! Hey! Thanks for making such awesome re-usable shopping totes. Since Anya made the splash on the scene with the "I am not a plastic bag" canvas tote that sold out all over the US in a matter of days she's really maintained her position on providing fashionistas with stylish and functional canvas shopping totes at fairly reasonable prices. I LOVE THESE TWO.

I want: To "Fall" for Tory Burch Booties

So she's come a long way since the days of embellished toe flats. Tory Burch has fast become one of my favorite Clothing/Shoe/Handbag designers.

I am coveting these boots for fall. So much so that I'm thinking of just letting my credit card bear the financial burden ;) At only $475 they really hit the low price range as far as high quality fall boots go. Cha-Ching!!

I WANT: Wang, all the time... non-stop.. gimmie it.

I just died and went to dress heaven. Every time I step into MISCH on South Granville street my dress radar immediately points me in the direction of Alexander Wang. The undeniable talent for turning basic shades into devastating structures keeps me pining for this label. Just look at the detail on the bustier of the second dress, perfection.

Last time I was in MISCH, the dress I've been obsessing over, that I wrote about a few months back, was on sale. No longer $950 now $750 still ridiculous for a girl with a wallet the size of mine.. The girl who worked there looked at me and said "You need to own that dress, that dress was made for you. How can we make this happen." I looked at her and smiled and thought to myself. This dress is just one of many things I want, but don't need. How tragic.

I want: Somewhere to wear this dress...

Once again the talented, and very young, team at Marchesa amaze me with their ability to sculpt fabric, like this gorgeous gold organza, into art.

I think I may have just the place to wear this baby.. Baskin Robbins..

Just kidding. My Best Friend is going to a formal wedding this weekend at the Capilano Golf Club.. I might have to persuade her to swap her gorgeous pink dress for this little number just so someone can dazzle in it.

Delightful.

I'm Back

So sorry I have been gone so long.. It's actually a pretty long story. To sum it up in a few sentences. I got busy, very busy. Work decided to take up all of my time and every single speck of free time I was able to pull was spent with many good friends and NO computer. Nobody likes a blogger who has a few cocktails before writing.

Thats a lie, I like bloggers who drink and blog, they are so entertaining.

So here I sit, sober, kinda sleepy after a big work out, eating gigantic (clearly genetically modified) celery dipped in Valentine sauce dreaming of shoes, bags, dresses, and dare I say... Shorts.. weird. Apparently I like shorts now... Cool so here I am.. Back.

I want: EVERYBODY to be as Happy as I am right now.

First of all let me clarify, this is not my son.. This is my really really great amazing girlfriend, Maureen's, baby boy Cole. This picture, although it makes me very happy, is only one little blip in what is making me the happiest girl in the world, and meeting him, Cole, finally, is just icing on this lovely cake of life.
New Promotion, New "Friend", New Lo....

This is good, I accept.

I want: To emphasize the importance of Cashmere on men.

Its a tactile thing really.
No one wants to put their hands on a scratch poly wool blend sweater.. and P.S. they don't work to your benefit in the summer. Wool = sweaty... equals no dates.. equals gross... equals sad.

haha

In all seriousness though, gentlemen, shell out $50 more for cashmere. It breathes extremely well, and is good for the summer when the nights get a little chilly.

Added bonus: She won't be able to keep her hands off you, Cashmere is like the Armand De Brignac of fibers. Its uber-luxurious and soft.. why wouldn't you want to wear it.. I do.

Want: J.Crew - Super affordable

Gilded Age 100% Cashmeredeliciousness

I want: To give Vancouver some props.

Hi Guys.. and girls, I'm home from Vacation. It was beautiful, relaxing, and fun but I must say I am very glad to be back in this beautiful city. Just walking around Vancouver two days ago made me fall in love with it all over again. Here are a few areas that I've been to in the past 3 days that are so key to explaining the beauty of this city.

SOMA
South Main Street
.
Wicked little boutique shops FRONT and company is definitely a favorite.

Awesome brunch spots. You must go to CRAVE and order the Short Rib Migas.. thats a demand.. and you must also consume one of the following: Mimosa or Caesar.. you're choice but make it a boozy brunch.

After you eat and drink wander up and down the street and go into every shop, you'll be amazed at what you find.

SOUTH GRANVILLE
I've sung this street praises a million times.. so I'll make this short -->
GO TO:
Misch to shop
Meinhardt to grocery
Vijs to escape on a culinary adventure
Williams Sonoma to deck out your kitchen (yeah le Creuset)
and BACCI's to drool over highend designer bag/shoes/clothes... yum

DUNDARAVE in West Vancouver
Really good for a date...
Easy going chill date: Dundarave Fish Market : This is the place where you get a bottle of white, sit on the patio, people watch, and share a million delicious fresh as they come tapas and oysters.
Romantic ocean view date: The Beachhouse : This place is all atmosphere, it's literally a beachhouse on the water.. how do you beat that?

I may be bias cause I grew up in the area, but these classics make me excited everytime I go.

I want: ADAM

Hey Adam.. where did you come from.. Ooooh Oscar de la Renta, that would make sense. I've been loving you for longer than I even knew.

Adam Lippes ladies and gents.. Yeah so he's been around with his own line ADAM since 2004 (after spending a number of years as the creative director at 'OdlR' [he was the youngest ever at only 26]), but I never really knew until now.

Silk georgette mini dresses and Jumpers, and sequins a plenty. I'm a fan, check him out.

I want: To fall asleep and wake up with this store as my closet..

V.. for Violet.. not just the colour (I adore) but the exquisite boutique just south of Meinhardts on South Granville street. This adorable, beautiful and fashion forward shop has officially become my favorite.

As you may or may not know already I am hopelessly infatuated with luxurious fabrics, flattering cuts, and beautiful colours. All and more was found when I stepped into the doors at Violet Boutique. Dresses a plenty, a must visit for the girl who adores soft feminine looks.

What I love most about this store are the lines that they carry: QUAIL and Crispin & Basilio are just two in a stunning variety.

Any questions? Just ask Leah, she is incredibly stylish, knowledgeable and very helpful.

I want: Alexander Wang and Loeffler Randall

Apres a delicious lunch of Sandwiches, Soup and too much coffee at Cafe Barney with one of the best people I know, we took a casual stroll up South Granville. We paused in front of Misch and he insisted I try on the exquisite Vanessa Bruno dress hanging in the window. It was beautiful, but a little revealing for me...
Then I saw it.. An incredibly gorgeous silk crepe Alexander Wang dress which I paired ever so strategically with the perforated cut out shooties by Loeffler Randall... ooooh woe is me... anyone have $1700 to spare?

A girl can dream.. No?

I want: you to know this...

Coachella is upon us.
I'm staying here with my good friends from Time SupperClub in Montreal and they are still offering a couple rooms for VIPs. The packages are amazing and the style factor is off the Hook... When it comes to Music loves Fashion no other crew does it better..

Watch out Palm Springs you're about to be dosed once again..

I want: To mention a cute little Patio

Yesterday I had lunch with my Dad, Dad's GF, Brother, Bro-in Law, Nephew and Sister at Burgoo on Main and 15th. It looks like someone grabbed a cozy chalet out of the Adirondacks and dumped it right in the middle of Urban sprawl. I've been to the other locations but this one is definitely special... mostly because of its "awesome for people watching" patio.

Try the Sprung Salad with the Chicken and Corn Chowder.. Yum.

I want: Wrist decoration

Lately I love nothing more than the sound of my bangles clanking together as I lift a cerveza to my face whilst enjoying the gorgeous Vancouver sunshine on a patio.

Left to Right: Zoe and Morgan bangles and Monica Vinader cuff.. Oh my my..

I want: James Verbicky

James.. James... Impeccable talent encapsulated in a 6 foot something blond haired tattooed armed man. I can safely say I've been a fan for over 5 years. Since that time, his work has moved from gorgeous figurative paintings to full blown mixed media resin engulfed abstract heaven.

I have the blue one at left, "Shelter", on loan ;) But want to fill my house full of it all. You should too. It makes me want to shop for patent leather butter yellow shoes.. Weird I know.. There's not much out there that doesn't inspire me to shop for shoes.

The inspiration for his most recent collection "CONTINUUM" came from work he was commissioned to do on one of the Frank Gehry Spheres in the Hollywood Bowl.. Since that time he's been popping up all over, most notable was this past December when he was asked to show at The Louvre in Paris.

Never one to disappoint, I patiently await his new collection which I'm sure will inspire all kinds of shopping sprees.

I want: To reminisce about my old stomping grounds..

Ahhh Venice, what was once a violent ghetto-ish neighborhood.. is continuing it's rise as a cool, trendy, stylish, up and coming haunt. I love it. LOVED it back in my Hydrolab on Abbott Kinney days.. still loving it, thinking about it..... maybe wanting to move back.... Weird? No. So yeah, this place is for sale.. Wanna move? Let's go.

I want: A new kind of LBD

Little Black and Little Blue.. I've been interchanging the LBD with the LBD v.2 a lot so far in 2009, It's become my favorite switch up. A little Sapphire blue to brighten a black tie affair? Sounds good. I'm unbelievably stoked that this is carrying through to fall. Erdem showcased in Paris for Fall 09'... How about a little mini dress eye candy to brighten your morning? enjoy....

P.S. Please check the bright "Jackson Pollock"-esque booties with the black strapless... TO DIE FOR no?

I want: To explain something... mens footwear

In reply to a comment left on my last post by the wonderful and talented Mr. Sheedy I felt it "very necessary" to explain the concept of casual footwear for men.

I DO NOT mean casual as in: "Hey check out my sweet DC kicks", or "uhh yeah I love me some KEDS".. no.

I mean leather trainers, canvas boat shoes and if you're going to wear hightops/hot sneaks a friend designs these exceptional ones SUPRA

Top to Bottom: 'Rag & Bone' Leather trainers, 'Opening Ceremony' canvas sneaks, 'Band of Outsiders' reconstructed boat shoe, 'Band of Outsiders' leather and Twine boat shoe.... I likey for summer
